Mercedes Lanman

Mercedes is a recent graduate of Deerfield’s Trinity International University with a Master of Arts in Teaching and is a 7th grade Language Arts teacher. During her academic career she has swim coached club teams with Chicago Athletic Clubs, Northwestern University’s NASA Wildcats, and Lake Forest High School’s Scouts. Her diverse experience ranges from water safety personnel at country and athletic club pools throughout the Chicagoland area to the Great Lakes Naval Base. Always looking to challenge herself and pursue athleticism, she currently trains and competes in Triathlons in the area. Alongside her training, she has combined her love for working around water with her dedication to community safety by serving in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary as a Crew member. Thrilled to be able to bring her skills and experience to the Lake Forest Club community, she is committed to maintaining an organized team of staff ready to serve and respond. Her hopes for her swimmers match her philosophy working with students: to facilitate experiences that trigger curiosity, demand motivation, and breed bravery and determination to take risks and reach goals.
